I wanted one since I was 19 and got it this year in January at 48. Took 15 minutes to decide. The difference? I didn’t care what people (especially my mother 😂) would think about it.
I had always thought having an earring was cool. I’ve wanted to pierce an ear since I was 17 but I didn’t think it was the thing to do professionally. At age 60 I went with my 16 year old son to get his ear pierced. I finally said wtf do I have to lose? That was 12 years ago. Many people have commented how cool it looks especially younger ones. Since then my son got two more ear piercing and a tattoo. I’m thinking about getting one myself. I no longer care what others think. If it brings me joy then it’s worth it!
I wanted to have a tiny diamond nose stud for a while now. But kept postponing, last couple of months I also want to have a tiny tattoo on my wrist. Both of them clashes with my image as the Principal of the school . But have decided to do it. Also colour my hair to something entirely different from now… Just don’t want to live the way i am expected to…
Well, I say go for all of it. I have a small tattoo I got as a teenager, but I've been thinking about getting another one myself. No time like the present.
Oh wow! This hit me deep on so many levels. It's amazing how we project our own limitations onto the outside world. And...you've helped tilt the bar for this 43 year old that has always wanted a nose ring!
It’s funny how you say you had to think about how your patients see you. You’re right. Who says we have to fit a certain image? When I was teaching spiritual practices and meditation, my students assumed I was vegetarian or vegan. When they saw me eating meat, they were surprised. I said “Yup! I eat meat.” 😁
I freaking love this! I love that you have a friend that just knew you wanted it and pushed you over the edge. I love that you did it at 45 and you called it a reckoning. Really, the whole damn thing. I’m laughing because I’ve considered it too (I’m 43). And I have what my parents call ed an “english nose” whatever. I’ll do what I want. So glad you did!
Well I love this! Thank you for this. And I say go do it, you won't regret it. Or you well and then you can take it out, but I bet you won't. It's never too late to be a rebel.
Good for you! I and my identical twin independently started to get tattoos aged 54. It’s never too late to live your best life.
So true!
Love this! Yaaay you!
Wow, thank you!!!!
Here for a nose ring! Always loved the look and still do!

Well, you know, I relate to this. Hard. Good for you. Good for both of us.

Totally agree. My 19-year-old has two tattoos and I just love them. Whatever makes you feel good is the right thing I think.

Cheers to that🥂

I love that. Thank you for sharing. It means so much. I've just subbed you, and I look forward to hearing about your own process.

Yes. It's so ingrained (at least in me), but not so healthy!
